We are grateful to those who have donated to Ruth's and her mom's cause to keep their land in the past. About 5 months ago Ruth found out that all three plots that are in her grandfather's and father's family were going to need clear titles in Kenya in order to be given compensation from the Government in regards to the forced displacement due to the new railway and port. Since each of the plots are separate Ruth need to process them all separately. Sagehorse was able to help Ruth raise the $900 ($300 for each plot) to get the processing going. The two smaller plots, where buildings/small houses are located, transferred to Ruth's and her mom's name seemingly without a hitch. It was at that time, during the search process, that it was discovered that the title for the large plot of valuable farmland had yet to transferred into Ruth's grandfather's name. Apparently in approximately 2007 the seller's family filed a title with their grandchildren on it, although it was then 10 years after it has been sold to Ruth's grandfather. Those grandchildren are now grown up and live in another town. The Chief of Ruth's village has agreed along with the elder of the original seller's family to take a compensation of $600.00 for the now adult children's signature to transfer the title. The farmland is much more valuable than $600 and if Ruth and her mom can get the farmland in their names, they will be compensated for its value and be able to buy farmland near Ruth's mom's family of origin, not that far away, but out of the railway's path.

We are just out of time. They no longer are willing to wait. We are pleading to the public and to our friends/neighbors/family to help Ruth and her mom!
